What is included when you install mulch?
We cut a clean edge on the beds, pull the weeds, take out old matted mulch where it needs to come out, and spread fresh mulch at the right depth. If you want it, we can also put down mulch glue, which is a clear spray that binds the top layer together so heavy rain does not float it onto your driveway.
Mulch is not just for looks. In sandy Florida soil it holds water around the roots. It keeps the ground from cooking in July. It also smothers weed seed before it gets going. The catch is that it breaks down fast here, so most beds want topping off once or twice a year.
Time for fresh mulch when

- The layer is thin enough that you see soil or old fabric
- Weeds are coming up through it easily
- Rain keeps washing it onto the drive or the walk
- The plants are fine but the yard still looks tired

About mulch glue
Mulch glue is worth it on slopes, under downspouts, and anywhere the mulch keeps ending up on the concrete. It is not magic. It holds the surface together and it wears off over time, so it is a help, not a permanent fix. On a flat, sheltered bed most people do not need it.
What to know before you book
- Mulch fades. Every mulch fades in Florida sun, dyed mulch included. Some colors hold longer than others and we will tell you which, but none of them stay new-looking for a year.
- Piling mulch up against tree trunks and stems causes rot, so we keep it pulled back. If you want it heaped up, we will explain why we would rather not.
- Mulch on top of failed weed barrier will still grow weeds. If the fabric underneath is shot, say so and we will price replacing it.
